Create or download an image. You can use any image that fits into your page,
as long as it is not illegal, offensive, or defamatory.
If you download the image, you can download it from just about any Web site, as long as you cite the
source/author where you got it.
You should keep in mind that if you are using the free hosting plan at Freehostia,
your image file must be less than 500Kb in size.
Save this image in an images folder underneath your
main site folder (on your local storage drive).
You already have some content in your index.html page, meaning
that you should have some paragraphs
of text in it.
I want you to put an <img> tag into the body of your index page, using the
image that you saved in your images folder as the src.
Put
the <img> tag before the paragraphs.
Make sure you add an alt attribute to your <img> tag.
You should also add a title attribute to your <img> tag.
I also want you to float your main image so the paragraph text displays next
to the image (and wraps below it if there is a lot of text). [HINT: The float
property goes in your stylesheet.]
Validate your index.html page with the W3C's
HTML
Validator page. I will also be validating your page, so this
validation will be part of your grade.
If you made any changes to your stylesheet,
also validate your stylesheet page with the W3C's
CSS Validator page.
I will also be validating your page, so this validation will be part of your
grade.
Upload your index.html page and your image file
to your Freehostia server's folder.
(And make sure that you upload the image
to an images directory under the main site directory.)
If you changed your stylesheet, make sure you upload it, too.
If you are using the Freehostia File Manager, you can use the "UPLOAD NEW FOLDER"
button to upload the folder and the image in one step.
Click "UPLOAD NEW FOLDER".
Click "Add Folder".
Navigate to the images folder. Either double-click the folder, or
select it and then click the "Upload" button at the lower right.
Click the "Upload" button in the panel that asks if you want to upload X files
to this site?
Finally, don't forget to click the big "Upload" button to finish the upload.
You can test your page on the class server by selecting the "Student Sites"
link on the class site and then clicking your name in the bulleted list.
Make sure you refresh/reload the page with F5 to get the new version of
your page!
